RECYCLE
Recycling plastic bottles reduces pollution and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. Making plastic out of recycled resources uses about two-thirds less energy than making new plastic. Turning recycled aluminum cans into new ones uses 95% less energy than what making new ones would take.
TG62-RECYCLE SOLUTION
The Problem
Recycling plastic bottles and containers reduces pollution and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. Making plastic out of recycled resources uses about two-thirds less energy than making new plastic. Better yet, replacing plastic with aluminum containers where applicable seem an obvious direction. Aluminum cans might indeed mean less ocean waste, but they come with their own eco-price: the production of each can pumps about twice as much carbon into the atmosphere as each plastic bottle. Turning recycled aluminum cans into new ones uses 95% less energy than what making new ones would take.
